My name is Mrs. Arruda. That's me in the picture. The bearded fellow is my husband, Ryan.  He is a graphic designer and I will show you lots of things he has made throughout the year. The little lady at the bottom is my daughter Kate. She is 6 years old, and headed to first grade. She is currently obsessed with Pokémon and Lego.

 

We live about half an hour away from Sturbridge with our kitties Pockets (top) and Frank Sandwich (bottom). We love our kitties, but they are both serious mischief makers.  Pockets' favorite hobbies include: knocking things off tables and counters, pawing the TV screen, and trying to tear down window shades. Frank Sandwich, aka Frankie, is still getting used to the family.  Her hobbies include trying to eat everyone's food except her own, chasing her tail, and racing through the house like she's on fire at 3 A.M.

This will be my 16th year teaching at Burgess! I've taught second and third grade, and I am happy to be in third grade with you this year. I love being a teacher. It makes me happy to help kids and watch kids grow. I love doing class read alouds and think we can learn SO MUCH talking about what we've read.

Other fun facts:

​

• I started playing clarinet in 5th grade.  Everyone was thrilled when I stopped playing in 6th grade.

• I love reading and especially love laying in the hammock with a good book.

• I am really good at taking naps.  If there was a napping competition, I'd totally win it.
